to rehabilitate and improve a 800 metre stretch of the Maghera River at Magheraboy Upper, Finea, Co. Cavan. Works will include the removal of some in-stream vegetation, repair and reinstatement of existing in-stream structures. Improvement and alteration of flow dynamics by the construction of deflectors and weirs, reinforcement of the river bank in some locations and the introduction of spawning gravel to improve breeding habitats for trout. Appropriate assessment and an NIS has been submitted as part of this application.
