EXPP: PROTECTED STRUCTURE: The proposed works consist of the replacement of existing, non-original timber sash windows with new insulated timber sash windows. The project will strictly maintain a like for like size basis with zero widening, heightening or alteration of the existing structural window openings. The current windows feature faux pleut on (astragal) glazing bars stuck onto single panes of glass. These bars have suffered extensive structural damage warping and rot due to age and ivy growth on the facade, causing them to detach from the glass. The new replacement windows will recreate the historical pattern of the existing windows, but will utilize permanent integrated timber glazing bars (22mm). To improve thermal efficiency and draught proofing the new sashes will integrate high performance 4-6-4 slimline double glazing with draught seals. The replacement sashes aim to preserve the traditional slim exterior profile.
